What to Wear...do's and don'ts for family sessions
Let's face it, family photos can be stressful. I know for myself there has rarely been a session where one of my littles didn't break down just before or during a session. I get it. The best thing you can do is to have your outfits preplanned before the session, so you can focus on your kids the day of.
Here's a Quick List of Do's and Don'ts:
Do coordinate, but don't be matchy-matchy. Choose outfits that are in the same color scheme, ie. all warm tones or cool tones.
Avoid busy patterns or logos, and stick to neutral colors that won't clash with each other. Less is more.
Feel free to accessorize, with your favorite scarf, hat, or statement jewelry to add some personality to the photos.
Your style is your vibe. Consider dressing up more than down, but not like you're going to a black-tie event or a work meeting. Button down shirts photograph better than t-shirts, but stiff collared work shirts for men can look like overkill in outdoor sessions. For women, dresses can appear more whimsical and jeans more casual. Both can look good when fitted well. Consider what you want to do with these images and what feeling you want, then go from there.
Keep in mind you'll likely be sitting on the ground for part of the session, so wear something that will allow you to be comfortable.
